Why purchase custom? A dress purchased “off the rack” or “ready to wear” cannot compete with a gown custom-made for the woman wearing it. How many times have you tried on a dress only to find it needs alterations in the bodice, sleeves, or hem line? Did you factor these alterations in your budget and your time line? elyseREUBEN clients are given the opportunity to choose the color, material, design, and fit of the gown. At elyseREUBEN we use both classic designs and cutting edge materials, combining these with quality construction. We take pride in each stitch. Our main focus is to make for each client, her perfect gown. Finding the right gown for you. When deciding on your perfect gown, information is power. There are times to accentuate and times to conceal. Below are key points to take into consideration when gown shopping. The Bra: A very important part of the fit of a gown is the choice of the under garment. The right bra is important and can make or break a gown. Make sure it is the correct size; statistics show that 60% of women wear the wrong size bra. To insure consistency of fit, the same bra should be worn during all alteration appointments. The Size: The size should not be the size you want it to be but the size that fits you and your body. If ripping out the size tag makes you feel better, rip it out. If your gown doesn’t fit, you will be uncomfortable and you won’t look your best; don’t do that to yourself. Whether you are size 4 or 18, be you and feel great. “Great” shows through. Order the correct size when you place the order; if you are losing weight, plan on alterations later. Unfortunately, few people lose weight under stress. The Design Know your body and accentuate the positive. Gathering adds material and may add weight to the dress. A curved empire seam can create a softer line for someone with a larger bust. A straight empire will accentuate a smaller bust. A dropped waist can elongate your torso. A full skirt can make your waist look smaller. A half cap sleeve is younger and still creates a modest look. Lace adds depth. Good luck with your gown hunt and thank you for visiting elyseREUBEN. |
